This two day book workshop taught by Terry Ratzlaff and Benjamin Rasmussen will explore concepts of narrative within the physical form of the book. Using an archive of images and documents from Félix Martí-Ibáñez, a mid-century Spanish doctor, traveler and philosopher, and quotes from his book Journey Around Myself, this workshop will focus on creating a fictional narrative using found images. By removing authorship of the images, this will be an exercise in creating structure and movement within the pages and then exploring how the physical form of the book chosen impacts the way a reader engages with the story. We will be constructing the edit and text together as a group and then each person will construct their own physical book, which they will take home with them.
